George Carlin Interview

A long, insightful interview that proves George Carlin was much more than just a comedian.

I've come to realize I took this guy for granted for too long, not really keeping up with his material over the past several years. Thankfully, it's all documented and available.

George Carlin

George Carlin introduced counter-culture to a very young Dave Bush back in the early 70's. Hearing his FM & AM album down in Tim Shantz's basement was enlightening, to say the least. Also unforgettable - George as the host of the very first edition of Saturday Night Live.

Thanks for the laughs. Thanks for never selling out. Thanks for never failing to shine a light on all the idiocy of our culture.

"Why do they lock gas station bathrooms? Are they afraid someone will clean them?"

Bye, George.

More Jack Handey

"The Sound of Young America" podcast interview with Jack Handey. The infamous "Free Dummy" and "Flippy/Hambone" Deep Thoughts are discussed during the interview, so there's officially no acceptable reason for not listening.

My all-time favourite Deep Thought:

“If I ever opened a trampoline store, I don't think I'd call it Trampo-Land, because you might think it was a store for tramps, which is not the impression we are trying to convey with our store. On the other hand, we would not prohibit tramps from browsing, or testing the trampolines, unless a tramp's gyrations seemed to be getting out of control.”
